Project Collaboration

GCPS / RCPath Video Lecture Series

The Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS) and the Royal College of Pathologists (RCPath), in conjunction with the Tropical Health Education Trust (THET), have developed a series of 24 video-based lectures, covering topics selected by the Faculty of Laboratory Medicine, across chemical pathology, haematology, histopathology (anatomical pathology), and microbiology.

The lectures will support continued professional development of the residents of GCPS and pathologists and scientists worldwide. The Project is funded by the UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC)

Sponsor our Projects & Programmes

With the mandate to organise training programmes, conduct exams, award certificates, influence health policy and undertake Continuous Professional Development (CPD), the College has 15 Faculties which carries out numerous projects and organizes scientific sessions and writings, workshops, conferences, seminars and programmes which seeks to strenghthen the scientific base of medical professionals and improve healthcare delivery in Ghana and beyond.

Programmes like the Medical Knowledge Fiesta, the Annual General and Scientific Meeting, and Continuous Professional Developments (CPDs), seeks to strengthen the scientific base of medical practitioners in Ghana and Diaspora. We also have projects like Resident e-Portfolio App, which electronically monitor and evaluate Residents’ training; and our Research and Publications including the College newsletters and postgraduate medical journals.

Sponsor Resident Training

If you are an Organisation, Government Agency or Institution looking to fund the postgraduate training of residents (Individuals or groups) or support the training programmes of the Faculties. Funding organisations can nominate their candidates for the scholarships or allow the College through its internal processes select the candidates for the scholarship.

Candidates must have applied for admission to the College by the relevant deadline and have a conditional offer of admission to be considered for any available corporate funding.

Evolution of Medicine in Ghana

The exhibition focused on the evolution of medicine in Ghana from pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial independence era.

The exhibition demonstrated the traditional practice of medicine in its diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive aspect. The use of psychotherapy, flora, fauna and where necessary, the innovation for intercession by spiritual forces are equally at play.

Practice of Medicine

The exhibition showed the historical antecedent of the practice of medicine and its progressive development over the period.

Today, Ghanaians control the commanding heights of the medical profession in the country.
