Admissions and Training Requirements

Eligibility for Membership Training

1. Doctors who have done two years of house officer rotations
2. Doctors who have worked for one year as a medical officer in any accredited Health facility in the country.
3. Full registration with MDC and in good standing
4. The following Medical Doctors can apply right after their House Job

• The top 10% of medical school graduates
• Doctors who would like to pursue postgraduate training in the following identified priority specialty areas.
  • Radiology
  • Radiotherapy
  • Otorhinolaryngology
  • Psychiatry
  • Laboratory Medicine
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Anaesthesia
  • Ophthalmology
  • Dental Surgery

Eligibility for Fellowship Training

1. Post Membership work experience in Ghana of one (1) year in any accredited health facility.
2. Should be a Specialists trained under GCPS.
3. Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana
4. The following Medical Doctors can apply right after their Membership Training.

• Doctors who excel in their Membership examinations and have been recommended by the Faculty Board
• Doctors who have been admitted to train in the priority specialties.
• Doctors admitted to Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery and Neurosurgery
• Doctors who apply to specialize in General Specialty Fellowship in an accredited hospital in the region they were posted to.

Eligibility for Fellowship Training for Ghanaian Specialists Trained Abroad

• Doctors who are registered with the Medical and Dental Council for Ghana as Specialists and are in good standing.
• Equivalent of Membership of GCPS which has been certified by the MDC.
• Doctors who have practised in Ghana as Specialists for a minimum of Two (2) years.

Eligibility for Fellowship Training for Non-Ghanaian Specialists Trained Abroad

• Prospective applicants should submit a written application to the Rector’s Office for vetting by the faculties. Evidence of qualifications and a detailed curriculum vitae should be attached.
