Anaesthesia

The Faculty provides training and mentorship through a structured programme designed to encourage the acquisition of theoretical knowledge to support the technical and clinical skills required for the safe practice of Anaesthesia and Critical Care. This structured programme provides further experience in the peri-operative anaesthetic management of all types of surgical patients in elective, emergency and in critical care situations.

The Faculty also provides subspecialty training and experience in critical care, obstetric anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia and interventional pain management, cardiothoracic anaesthesia, paediatric anaesthesia and neuro-anaesthesia. The training emphasizes the importance of patient safety, standards of monitoring (both invasive and non-invasive) and patients’ rights.

The Faculty also has a modular diploma programme which is structured to provide training for physician anaesthetists in underserved regions in Ghana.
