The Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons has announced plans to setup a computer-based testing (CBT) facility at the College.
The Rector of the College, Professor Richard Adanu, disclosed this at the Induction ceremony of the 18th Annual General and Scientific Meeting (AGSM) of the College.
Prof. Adanu said, work is currently far advanced to ensure that the CBT facility will go a long way in addressing the bottlenecks of primary examinations in the College, contribute in building the capacity of the Residents in Training and actualizing the strategic plan of the College.
In September 2021, The College successfully administered its Primary Examination via Computer-based Testing at the West African Examination Center in Accra.
Following the successful conduct of the computer-based exams, the College has undertaking steps to establish its own Exams testing facility for the conduct of Primaries Exams for the March 2022 Examinations.
“I am pleased to announce that we intend to set up our own Computer-based Testing Center at the College and work is currently far advanced to ensure that next year’s Computer-based Testing Examinations will be conducted from our own center”.
The Rector, Prof. Adanu, commended the tireless effort of the College Vice Rector, Dr. Henry Lawson, the ICT Department and the Administration Department in the realization of this effort.
The College is desirous of ensuring that Residents’ training is efficient, productive, and skills-centered. The Rector assured of leveraging technology to achieve this.
This year, the GCPS, like many other organizations, has been involved in reorganization to overcome the challenges posed by the COVID 19 pandemic. We have continued to host all our Continuous Professional Development activities virtually and have also held a number of hybrid meetings.
We have continued to work on the electronic logbook, E-Port, which will be used for tracking the training activities of residents as well as for part of their continuous assessment. A successful demonstration was conducted for a cross-section of trainers. We plan to run a pilot test of the software early next year and then roll it out completely after making any needed changes that come out of the pilot.
