Profile

As an old girl of Wesley Girls High School, Cape Coast, and a graduate from the UNIVERSITY OF GHANA MEDICAL SCHOOL (1992), she obtained a Diploma in Anaesthesia from the West African College of Surgeons in 1995. She  obtained a Diploma in Anaesthesia in 1996 and later  a fellowship from the College of Medicine, South Africa, in 2001. Subsequently, in 2011, the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons awarded her a fellowship in Anaesthesia.

Her subspecialty of interest is Paediatric Anaesthesia. she worked as a registrar in training and later as a consultant and specialist at King Edward VIII hospital and then at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central hospital, Durban-South Africa.

In pursuit of Paediatric anesthesia, she went to Washington University of Medicine in St Louis Missouri in the USA where she worked as an instructor in Paediatric Anaesthesia at the St Louis Children’s hospital (2004-2009).

Through her time and experiences, she has always loved to teach, train and mentor. She has given many lectures, presentations, and Problem Based Learning Discussions (PBLD) at refresher courses and workshops, conferences and meetings in the USA, Ghana and South Africa.

She won 2nd prize for the Young Investigator’s award at the society of Paediatric Anaesthesia meeting in Miami Florida, 2005,  with her work on “Standing orders of Pediatric Post-Operative Care:  Impact on medication use and  patient recovery”.  She also gave a PBLD on Posterior spinal fusion complicated by malignant Hyperthermia at the Society of Pediatric Anaesthesia meeting at Jacksonville, Florida, in 2009. She obtained a Diploma in Project design management from the Liverpool school of Tropical medicine in 2012 which led her to assume the role of a facilitator for the programme at the 37 Military Hospital .

She was the secretary to the faculty of Anaesthesia of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (2012 to 2017 ) and later, the Chairman of the faculty of Anaesthesia ( 2017 t0 2019). She helped establish the college museum,  and served on the mentorship comittee just to mention a few.
