The College on 29th January, held an event on its premises to commission the Paul K Nyame Library, and the Prof Jacob Plange-Rhule Fellows Lounge; both facilities are named after past Rectors of the College.
Convening its attendees at the Seminar Room, the gathering featured a panel of dignitaries in the persons of Prof Sam Debrah, the College President, Prof Yaw Adu-Gyamfi, the immediate past Council Chair, Dr Ernest Kwarko, former NHIA Board Chair and Project Sponsor and the eponym of the Library.

College Officers, Faculty heads and some external stakeholders were also present including Prof Pius Agbernoku, Vice President, Surgeons, Prof Richard Adanu, Rector and Prof Henry Lawson, Vice Rector and Dr Sammy Ohene, immediate past Chair, Faculty of Psychiatry. The event began with an Opening Prayer by Dr Justina Ansah, Vice President, Physicians, then Prof Sam Debrah took to the lectern to deliver the Welcome Address, expressing his elation at the long-awaited commissioning of the facilities and his participation in it.

The opening remarks made by Prof Adanu then followed, in which he regaled the audience with past accounts of his training days under the guidance of Prof Nyame and how those experiences impacted him. He also expressed his gratitude to the project sponsor, and urged the audience to look on his sponsorship efforts as a shinning example of alumni of the College collaborating to facilitate the needed capacity in exercising its mandate.

This gave way to the remarks from Dr Ernest Kwarko, who also shared some his past experiences in residency training under the Prof Nyame. He thanked the College for the opportunity to collaborate with it and he hoped that the facilities will be symbolic of the work ethic and recreational spirit of the Prof Nyame and Prof Plange-Rhule.

Professor Nyame was then called upon to share the closing remarks. He began by expressing his appreciation to the College for the honourable eponymous gesture, and to the Dr Kwarko for his sponsorship efforts. He then recollected events from when he held the position of Rector. He acknowledged with high approval, the changes that had transformed the College since the time of this rectorship and commended the actions of the Prof Adanu and Management for their efforts in facilitating this change. He concluded with a peroration urging all College stakeholders to continue their respective commitments to enable the College lift its name higher. The gathering was brought to a close with a prayer after which attendees were guided to the Fellows Lounge and the Paul K. Nyame Library for its official commissioning and tour, both of which were led by Mrs Ferguson-Laing, Head of Administration and Mr Patrick Ansah, head of IT.
