The appointment was disclosed when the National Media Commission (NMC) announced a new assemblage of members for the governing boards of four state-owned media organizations. The media organizations are: Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the New Times Corporation (NTC) and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation; the latter of which Professor Debrah has been selected to chair.
News of the appointments was made known on the 2nd of March by a statement enlisting the names of the appointees and endorsed with the signature of the Executive Secretary of the NMC, Mr. George Sarpong. The engagement of new members for the governing boards is in compliance with Article 168 of the 1992 Constitution, section 2(1) of the NMC act. 1993 (Act 449) and in consultation with the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.
Chair Of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation
The new governing board of GBC is made up of a nine-member body, which encloses, Mrs. Efua Ghartey, Dr. Kwame Nyamekye, Mrs. Ama Serwah Nerquay, Mr. Peter Yarquaye and Mr. Thomas Bronii. It also includes Mr. Adjei Afriyie Nketia, Mr. Samuel Kojo Intsiaba, Dr. Tannoh Debrah, Prof. Amin Alhassan and its new chair, Prof. Samuel Debrah.
Prof. Samuel Debrah is a professor of Surgery at the Department of Surgery, at the University of Cape Coast and also the Vice-president of Surgery at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. This appointment as the chair of the board of the GBC comes as another addition to a list of accomplishments in his illustrious career. The College is pleased with this new achievement as it has been to his contributions to its management and is of the conviction that this attainment will serves as a wellspring of inspiration to all medical professionals.
